Who does not want to save some money which can be diverted to purchasing of more important things and to realization of our dreams? If you are one of those people who are trying to save some money by reducing expenses, this article is for you. Of course, there are a lot of various ways to save the money, but let’s look at 10 easiest ways which can help to decrease your expenses and thus increase your savings. There are no special strategies or mystic secrets – these are simple and actually well known things which can be done by everyone, but sometimes even simple things may seem complicated, if you have not tried them.

  1. Always stay tuned to prices of services which you are using and always prefer the cheapest one, for example, the cheapest car insurance, the cheapest beauty salons, the cheapest canteens etc. Of course, sometimes lower prices mean lower quality, but quite often this theory does not work. Do not overpay for services of equal quality! Remember that there are often possibilities to combine services such as television, telephone and the Internet – set of services is always cheaper than separate services. As for telephones, whenever it is possible, use free communication programs such as Skype, WhatsApp or Viber.
  2. Work out and do fitness exercises at home, using free video tutorials on the Internet or working out independently, rather than at fitness clubs for high prices. Of course, sometimes working out at fitness clubs helps to motivate ourself, because we see that others are exercising and so we have no other chances, but whether this price is worth it?
  3. No matter where you are – at home, at work or at school –, bring your own food and prefer to eat self-made food, instead of eating in cafés. As for self-made food, preserve vegetables and fruits by yourselves, rather than buy ready-made in shops. Think about other foods as well – perhaps many of them you can cook by yourselves, for example, muffins, cakes, dumplings, pizzas, desserts and many others.
  4. Whenever it is possible, travel by foot, bicycle or bus. Also a taxi is an option. However, if you drive a car, do not forget to turn off the engine while standing in traffic jams.
  5. Make a list of necessary products before you go to the grocery store and stick to it. Do not go shopping when you are hungry or exhausted, because then we tend to spend more money.
  6. If you do not mind, shop in the Internet, because the majority of products in the Internet is cheaper than elsewhere. Of course, there is a risk of getting a wrong or inappropriate product, but in most cases shopping in the Internet is more advantageous.
  7. Always show an interest about opportunity to form a client card or discount card, as well as stay tuned to all sales and discounts.
  8. Compare prices of litre or kilogram, not prices per unit. You will notice that bigger and heavier products are cheaper than smaller and lighter products. Of course, if you do not need big packs, do not buy them only because they are cheaper, but if you have a big family, take it into account.
  9. Whenever it is possible, wash in a shower, rather than in a bath, because in baths water consumption is twice as high. When you are brushing teeth or washing dishes, close a tap – open it only then, when it is necessary. As for dishes, buy a dishwasher, because it is more economical. Do not forget to fix dripping taps, because they unnoticeably increase water consumption. Never wash clothes in half empty washing machine and never set a temperature which is higher than 40 degrees Celsius.
  10. When you do not use some electrical appliance, turn off it or disconnect it from electricity. It also applies to electrical switches! Change all incandescents to economical bulbs. As for electricity consumption, the most uneconomical electrical appliances are fridges, flat irons and hair dryers, therefore, never put hot products in a fridge and take care that it does not freeze, as well as buy clothes which do not need to be ironed and dry your hair naturally.
